Experimentanium is one of the best museums open in Moscow for children. In it, young visitors can do whatever they want with the exhibits - disassemble, move and explore. In the halls of the museum, children play, solve puzzles and set up scientific experiments. A real adventure for young fidgets who love to spend time doing interesting things!

Sections of the exposition

The museum houses more than 300 unusual exhibits, and its halls are dedicated to the main fields of science. Children like this visit very much, because there are no boring excursions in the museum, and freedom is not limited by strict signs “You can't touch with your hands!”. Experimentanium allows young guests to do absolutely everything - to pull, collect, rearrange, jump and shout!

The "Acoustics" room is entirely dedicated to sounds, and in it children get acquainted with the nature of sound waves. Here they can understand how various musical instruments work and imagine themselves as the lead singer of a popular rock band.

An exhibition dedicated to electricity allows you to learn about the history of the use of electrical energy. In this room, children solve unusual questions - can people become sources of electric current and how to light a light bulb with their ear.

Museum entrance

Those who come to the "Magnetism" hall find themselves in the wonderful world of electromagnetic phenomena. "Flying" magnets, a magnetic cloud emerging from nowhere and magnetized shavings obedient to hand movements. Looking at such miracles, it is easy to feel like in a real fairy tale!

The interactive water installation, called the “Water Room” in the museum, was created to educate young visitors more about the laws of hydrodynamics. Arriving at this part of the museum, they get acquainted with the secrets of the formation of the sea wave and whirlpool, the principles of the operation of a water mill and a sluice.

Hall "Mechanics" - one of the most visited in Experimentanium. The reasons for this popularity are simple. The exhibits presented here show how knowledge of the laws of physics makes everyday life easier.

The "Puzzles" hall contains interesting constructors and educational puzzles, near which not only children, but also adults stay for a long time. In this room you can compete with your friends, try to put down clever puzzles and practice your attentiveness.

Truck cab in the "Mechanics" hall

To understand how people navigate in the dark, you need to look into the "Optics" hall. Its exhibits tell about the details of the TV set, you can hide behind translucent glass, why we believe optical illusions and whether the shadow has a color.

The amazing world of astronomy and astrophysics opens in the Cosmos hall. In it, children will learn what shape our planet has, whether there is something in common between an octopus and a rocket, and look at beautiful photographs taken by the famous Hubble telescope.

Spherical cinema

On the second floor of the museum, an unusual cinema is open, where films are shown inside a large sphere. Popular science films are devoted to the solar system, modern space projects, skydiving from the stratosphere, the planet Venus and flights to the moon. The new aspect ratio and great surround sound are impressive!

River in the "Water Room"

Film screenings are held daily and last 25 minutes. Tickets for them are sold on the day of the show. Babies under 3 years old are allowed to enter the cinema for free, provided that they watch the movie on their parents' lap.

Science Shows

During a visit to the museum, a child can always learn something new. During school holidays, on weekends and on holidays, spectacular experiments in physics and chemistry are held in Experimentanium.

At the show, children are shown experiments with electricity, they are introduced to the inventions of Nikola Tesla, they talk about the nature of the rainbow and light, the amazing properties of gases and crystals. Young people with a sweet tooth like the unusual show dedicated to glucose, where they demonstrate vivid experiments with sugar.

Communicating vessels in the "Water room"

The show "Mendeleev" was created especially for chemistry lovers. During it, a small hydrogen rocket is launched and fire is produced without matches. Children who love music usually choose the Resonance show. On it, they get to know the concept of “frequency”, learn how the air “sings” and why loud music is considered hazardous to health.

Performances are held in the Museum's Laboratory or Perelman's Lecture Hall. Science shows last from 40 minutes to an hour and invite children over 7-8 years old.

Master classes

Students can take part in interesting master classes in order to learn about the basic laws that govern the Universe during practical work. During the Sound Around master class, they learn to make simple musical instruments on their own and assemble a real gramophone.

Hall "Magnetism"

Molecular Cooking classes focus on the chemical reactions that take place in the kitchen every day. Under the guidance of a facilitator, children learn about the properties of yeast, make edible glue and nitrogen ice cream, and experiment with diffusion.

The Pure Chemistry classes are designed for elementary school students and introduce them to the chemical properties of soaps and detergents. On them, children use dry ice, alkalis and indicators for experiments, and at the end they make soap on their own. In the "High Voltage" lesson, young guests of the museum are introduced to the properties of electrical conductivity and, using different materials and objects, they receive current.

Programs for children

Physics teachers from Moscow schools bring their students to Experimentanium. The interactive activities, referred to here as Lessons in the Museum, last an hour and a half, and allow students in grades 7-11 to take a fresh look at a familiar school subject.

Hall "Acoustics"

Children who are interested in piloting quadcopters attend classes at the Drone School. There they learn how to design and repair drones, master aerobatics and take part in mini-drone pilot competitions.

Junior Campus classes are designed for children who want to learn about the rules of behavior on the road, environmentally friendly transport and the device of modern cars. In addition, throughout the year, children can attend robotics lessons and attend the BASF Kids' Lab, an interactive chemistry workshop.

In order for the young guests of the museum to awaken an interest in science, and they could learn about the latest research first-hand, the museum organized a series of lectures "Scientists for Children". Lectures are given by researchers from the Museum's Laboratory and invited scientists - chemists, astrophysics and bioinformatics.

Sea nodes in the "Puzzle" hall

The museum offers individual shows and scientific programs to children with visual and hearing impairments, Down syndrome and autistic people. All classes in the Accessible Science project are free of charge and are funded by charitable societies and grants.

Information for visitors

The museum welcomes guests on weekdays from 9.30 to 19.00, and on weekends from 10.00 to 20.00. It should be borne in mind that the ticket office stops selling tickets one hour before closing time. Children under 14 years old are admitted to the museum, master classes, lectures and show programs only when accompanied by adults.

On the ground floor of the building there is a cozy cafe where you can have a snack and lunch. In the cafe, visitors are offered salads, sandwiches, soups, hot dishes, french fries, grilled vegetables, fresh pastries, sweets, as well as soft drinks, coffee and tea at fairly affordable prices. The employees of the cafe hold master classes for children on making pizza and desserts.

In the hall "Mechanics"

If desired, parents with children can visit the Scientific Gift Shop, where they sell pleasant souvenirs related to the theme of the museum. In addition to gifts, in the store you can buy construction sets, board games, telescopes, microscopes, anatomical models of humans and animals, sets for burning and sets for experiments in biology, archeology, chemistry and physics.

How to get there

The museum is located at 80 Leningradsky Prospekt, building 11, within walking distance from the Sokol metro station. From the metro you need to get off in the direction of Baltiyskaya Street. The nearest stop for city buses No. 105, 105k and 110 is located on Baltiyskaya Street, 400 meters from the museum.
