The Russian Embassy in Cuba has published new rules for entering Liberty Island. On October 14, Mikhail Mishustin signed a decision to open Cuba to Russian tourists who will be able to rest at popular resorts in November. Like other states, Russia has temporarily suspended flights with a number of countries in order to combat coronavirus and reduce the risk of the spread of the disease. But gradually the borders are opening.

Thanks to the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, from November 1, Russians will be able to travel in three directions:

  • to Cuba
  • to Serbia
  • to Japan

Russian airlines are already ready for regular and charter flights.

For Cuba, Russia is a significant foreign market. More than 170 thousand Russian tourists rest on the island annually. In large numbers, only Americans rest in the Caribbean. The new rules for entering Cuba are partly related to "coronation".

General information on the rules of entry to Cuba

As before the pandemic, tourists from Russia can stay on the island without a visa for up to 90 days. To enter the country, you will need a passport, which expires no earlier than 6 months later, round-trip air tickets, a voucher and insurance. Filling in the migration card remains a prerequisite. The tourist must have two copies. One is presented upon entry into the country, the second upon departure from Cuba.

Additional rules in connection with the pandemic

The conditions for departure to Cuba, related to "coronation", are simple, but every tourist from Russia needs to fulfill them. The Russian Embassy emphasized that, first of all, it is necessary to reduce the risk of "imported" covid, therefore, upon arrival, the Russians will fill out a questionnaire and a special form on State Services.

On the State Services website, it will be necessary to post the test result for COVID, which must be done within 3 days after returning to Russia. All the time from the moment of arrival until the receipt of the results of the study, the tourist must stay at home. When entering Liberty Island, travelers will have to fill out a health questionnaire. There is evidence that they will be distributed already on the plane, so as not to create queues upon arrival at the airports.

Other precautions

  • Before arriving at the hotel, while at Cuban airports and in transport, you must use masks and gloves
  • At the airport, you should go through thermometry and pass a free test for COVID, in case of a positive result, the tourist will be hospitalized, and those who were in contact with him will be isolated and will also be tested for coronavirus
  • It is possible not to wear masks at the hotel, but you should regularly approach the staff to measure your body temperature
  • The appearance of symptoms of the disease, the traveler must inform the hotel administration about this, then he must follow all the instructions of the representative of the insurance company and the Cuban authorities

Departure to Cuba does not require a PCR test for coronavirus before leaving the country. This will greatly facilitate travel fees for Russians. But you must definitely buy insurance against COVID-19. You can do this online.

The cost of rest in Cuba

In November, it is cheaper to rest on Liberty Island than in December and on New Year's holidays. The average price for two for "all inclusive" will cost about 150 thousand rubles. All offers can be viewed on online aggregators, where all tours of Russian operators are collected. Online aggregators are convenient because they can compare packages, choose the most suitable one in terms of cost, book with instant confirmation and pay.
